November 4, 2009 JDUBS...Bringing the love!!! A little unknown fact...many golf scholars believe that Byron Nelson was on the verge of becoming the greatest golfer of all-time. We all know of Byron's accomplishment of winning 11 tournaments in a row and 18 wins in a single year, but did you know that Byron all but retired after his greatest year of golf? It is well known that Byron was playing for money, quite frankly he just wanted enough money to by a farm. Once he accomplished the feat of buying his dream farm the urge to win died with it. HOw good was Byron? Structural Engineers studying his swing and deemed it structurally perfect. Which is why they use his swing as the model for the USGA club and ball tester...Iron Byron. |
