| With the way things are going not sure any ones job is safe? There are cut backs every where. Do you have a back up plan if you job is gone soon? How long could you make it with out your job? I could make maybe 2 months and I only one other job in mind and it's not that good. My job may be in trouble by the end of Deccmber. About 20 years ago I lost my job and it took me over 1 1/2 years to get back on track. at near 50 years old it would be a harder road to go down. And only 4 years left on my home. Obama needs to get his stuff together because I think we are going back wards with him in charge. Hope you are better off then I am and sorry if you have already lost you jobs, best of luck getting back on your feet. | |||

I really have tried to avoid political discussion on Stracka. The reason being no matter what, some people will not be swayed and you cannot rationalize with irrational thought nor debate stupid. However...now that I've waded into this swamp, let me say I'm disturbed when I hear people talk of what the President or the Congress is going to do about the loss of jobs and how the government is going to protect our jobs. Listen folks, the government is not in the business of producing new jobs, protecting existing jobs, or protecting the citizens of the US from financial loss. If you are depending on the government for help, you're already lost. There is NOTHING the government does well, from the Postal Service(bankrupt) to Social "Security"(bankrupt) the the Welfare System(an insidious evil program that has captured millions and trapped them into a system rendering them nothing more than wards of the state and impotent to do anything to improve themselves or rise above the system and no incentive to try. Thus the government has created a dependency class who is beholden to the ruling class(government) for their sustenance. Oh, and by the way, also bankrupt)
If this "healthcare" program passes we'll all be in the dependency class and dependent on the ruling class...the government. And, we'll end up with rationed second rate healthcare. It isn't about "health" nor about "care". The government doesn't give a damn about your health. It is about POWER and CONTROL period. The more people they have dependent on them the more power and control they have over those beneath them. Anyone within the borders of the USA, even those here illegally, can access healthcare. Yeah, they walk out of the ER without paying a dime and all the rest of us pick up the tab but they CAN access healthcare. So don't try to play the sympathy card about poor ole so-and-so who can't go to the hospital. Look, the economy, jobs, banking crisis, etc., ALL OF THIS WAS CAUSED BY REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS! THEY ARE THE CAUSE! THEY ARE NOT GOING TO BE THE ANSWER. THEY AREN'T THE SOLUTION, THEY HAVE NO SOLUTIONS, THEY AREN'T CAPABLE OF FIXING ANYTHING...THEY CREATED IT! We have allowed people to bastardize the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of our government. They wallow in insane lust for more power and the more control over peoples lives they have the more power they have. I don't care who you vote for or what your political leanings, anyone who refuses to see what is right in front of them simply doesn't want to aknowledge the truth. My 2 cents...okay that's about 5 cents worth! :-) |

Last night I could have started typing and finished next decade. It is nice that we can give an opinion and not be dragged from our homes. Our country is the greatest. The grass may seem greener in another but when you visit turn on the radio and listen to their talk radio shows. They have the same frustrations, even about issues some may portray only positively to further their cause here. Let us first take a moment, I choose prayer, for the families of those who were injured or lost their lives today. My thoughts and prayers go out to them, peace be with you all.

Our country is certainly in a mess. The only thing we can and should do is pray for our country.
That being said... I think that, while we DO have some major problems that need immediate attention, we should take a step back and just be generally thankful that we live in the United States. Because we're arguing about healthcare and the environment. Go to Tanzania or Romania Ethiopia or something. See young children walking barefoot on dirt roads begging for money so they can buy their family some food. Just be glad you live here. Pray for our country, and thank God you call the USA home. |

# 31 on 11/6/2009 5:19:57 PM I think that, while we DO have some major problems that need immediate attention, we should take a step back and just be generally thankful that we live in the United States. That's wise :) We human beings are hard-wired to criticize, I think. That's probably what pushed us forward and made humanity invent so many great (and not so great) things. Imagine two villages separated by a river, a very long time ago, at the beginning of humanity. At first, villagers were happy to cross the river by foot in the summer, when there wasn't too much water. Then someone complained that he wanted to cross in the spring too, when the water was high. So they built a boat. But someone complained that the boat was slow and couldn't carry many passenger at once. So they built a wooden bridge. But someone complained that the bridge could get burnt by their enemies. So they built a stone bridge. And then a concrete bridge. And then a bridge builder bribed the local government and built a new bridge that was half as solid as the previous one but twice the cost ;) And everybody complained but reelected the government anyway. LOL. Dissent makes us try to improve. But I wouldn't want to be a politician. No matter what they do, they are always criticized. It's a bit insane. The situation in the US is really tough though. The unemployment rate had doubled in one year from 5 to 10%! Coming from Europe, I'm used to a 10% unemployment rate or more, but we have far better social protection. I hope the situation will improve soon for your country. |

I work for a school Dis. I do cleaning and maintenance some things the schools will always need. right? 1 year ago they had to cut 16 mil. lots of people lost their jobs, there was even talk we may have to close all the schools for 6 months. Right now by end of Dec. they have to cut another 20 to 30 mil. Not sure what will be left of our schools? The kids here maybe laid off. It's sad to think there is a chance kids in the U.S. Can not go to school.
Wow I didn't know that. I like the ability to learn, I'm a honor student, so i guess i probably do. If i had my choice of staying in school or getting kicked out, I'd stay in school. just gets annoying doing it day in and day out. That's why i wanna be a pro golfer so i don't have to do stuff like this the rest of my life. |

Im thinking badgolfergreg isnt such a bad golfer :) Hoo ahhh! Hope your hitting golf balls as well as your hitting the "high" spots of the Great Ones first year in office. I'm with you. Lets go mark some golf balls with B.O. on them and hit the snot out of 'em!! It'll be about as effective as anything we can do about it until the mid year elections when we can equalize the Congress and 2012 when we can get rid of this guy.

I got an email today that we have to cut 30 mil. for our schools this year. That is from the 33 schools in our city only. I saw on the new many other schools around us have to do much of the same. Many of them are cutting school sports. that is going to be sick. High schools with no sports.

A Joke I got the other day...thought it fit this forum.
"Dear Employees: As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%. But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off sixty of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me, since I believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who would have to go. So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found sixty 'Obama' bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem.. They voted for change; I gave it to them. I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic. Sincerely, THE BOSS" |

I thought that my career as an accountant would survive any economy, boy I was wrong. I was unemployed for over 1 1/2 years because I told the truth to my former boss. In South Florida, we are suffering with high foreclosure rates and a high unemployment rate. By the way, I'm also a Realtor and held a Mortgage Brokers license. Thank God for the upcoming Tax Season.
