How does everyone grip the putter. Seems like everyone has thier own preference, I guess go with anything that works and helps keep putts around 30 per round. I point my lower hand(right hand) index finger down along the shaft towards the ground, seems to help me stabilize on short putts. What is your preference?

Just started left hand low b/c I was inconsistant, we will see how that works after enough time on the putting green. Putting is a def. a weakness in my game.

Not too sure it'll help you, but my father-in-law has a grip I've never seen. Seems to use the putter shaft as a green gauge. Closer he gets to the hole, the further his right hand goes down the shaft. Seems to work well for him!

I used to put the index finger down the shaft too but PGA instructor I had broke me of that habit. My putts improved a lot. Seems index finger was pushing the club a bit too much and causing inconsistent strokes. Standard grip on putter, almost same as all my other clubs.

I do the same, (point right hand finger down to the ground) it does seem to stabilize my stroke. I usually putt around 30 - 34 putts per round. But for me (and still trying to get better mind you)is the importance of moving both bent elbows toward the line of the stroke, and of course, getting the ball consistently to an area near the pin where I can confidently make a putt (much harder to do). The best to you in your putting......

I putt with both of my thumbs lined up on the top using a baseball grip. This works well for me. Last week some friends talked me into walking 9 in the rain and I only had 13 putts(one 3 putt).
