Re-Construction (Stack & Tilt)

Posted November 4, 2009 • Flag!

I've always been a golfer who suffers with inconsistancy. I can go through periods of pure confidence, only to be brought back to reality by horrid rounds. A while back, I purchased the Stack & Tilt DVD's and was able to scratch the surface of this swing method with some success. My ball striking improved, but my scores weren't too different. Because of that, I decided to go back to a more conventional swing. Needless to say, my game was even more inconsistant and my handicap has suffered.

Recently, I decided enough was enough. I needed to completely overhaul my swing. I don't care how long it takes. With that in mind, I went back to my Stack & Tilt DVD's. Instead of just scratching the surface, I'm getting deep. I'm finding all of the info available on this method. I finally found a Stack & Tilt academy. Too bad its in Erie, PA (about 8hrs from my home). I'm starting a video chronicle of my progress. And I'm going to stick it out with this swing for as long as it takes.

I started this journey about a month ago. Already, I'm finding pieces of this swing method that I completely missed early on because of my newb results. (you know how it is when you make a small change, instant improvement followed by the same old crap) My current handicap is 27. I feel, if I stay committed and diagnose my errors instead of trying to band aid them, I should see great improvement by the end of next season.

I'll be linking my videos going forward.

golffoever is right about the short game. Practice putting, chipping, and everything from a 100 yards in. For all of the shots, no matter what, I focus on the back of the ball thru impact. If I forget about it, I usually pick my head to watch the ball. That's my biggest mistake. The other tip is to quit hitting the at 110%. To stop hitting with all the power, think about hitting just enough to hit the front edge of the green an let it bounce up. This though helps keep the ball in play. Maybe a little short, but not adding a ton of strokes to the card.

Good luck, practice, practice, practice

My best advise to you is practice your short game. Putting, chipping, pitching, and any thing a 100 yards and in. You say you are a 27 handicap it is fine you want to have a good swing but the quickest way to lower scores is the short game. 65% of the game is play 100 yards and in for a scratch player. It is even more for the high handicapper. To many people practice the long game and do not practice the short game at all. Evenly space your practice time between all three parts of you game. Good luck and i wish the best to you.

A friend of mine was taught the stack and tilt method by a golf instructor and his scores went down immediately! He went from shooting in the 90s to consistently scoring in the 80s and he even broke 80 this year! Good luck and keep us posted.
