Hunter did not make it home.

Home •• Golf Blog •• Duckhunter •• Hunter did not make it home.

Posted October 30, 2009

There are days when the wind blows and the hunting is good, however the water is not so nice on those days.  every year or two in the delta a duck hunter goes out and does not make it back to the dock.  This happen Wednesday. about 5miles from where I hunt.  The wind was blowing 30 mph and this guy has not yet been found, they did find his dog and it is fine.  These stories I try and keep from my wife.  She always tells me it looks like a good day to stay home.  I will stay home when the winds get over 50mph.  I did one day get stuck in the wind when the wind made it to 70mph.  In the blind I'm safe and will stay the night if I have to.  Why do we take this chance?  We must love it more then life or it's not going to happen to me? I will be back hunting this weekend.

I hit one laying on the floor behind my recliner in my living room. Remington 30-06. I will NOT be doing that again! F'd my dogs up too, Boxers. If they hear anything remotely like gunfire they are bedroom bound. I should have my ass kicked for pulling a stunt like that.

That's why you hunt from a lawnchair on the back deck with a pint of whiskey! Let the little bastards come to you! From time to time my wife gets hit with an errant .308 casing, but at least she knows I'm okay :)

It may be best to play it safe at times for the sake of caution. Your wife is right to worry. I hope the missing hunter is okay.

The question is Why would you jeopardize golf? I already know the answer!

That's why you gotta come to Arkansas (my home state). Lots of ducks, lots of water, and no wind.
