1043 Views     17 Comments    27 Votes Last Tuesday evening, July 21, 2009, Congressman Heath Shuler (D-NC) and Congressman Joe Baca (D-CA) launched the “Golf Committee” in the Capitol Building in Washington DC.   Hosting more than 80 guests, the reception attendees included 6 Congressmen as well as representatives from leading organizations in the golf industry.  Speakers included Jim Stracka (GolfNet & Stracka.com), Congressman Mike McIntyre (D-NC) and the committee’s chairman, Congressman Joe Baca (D-CA). The Golf Committee is a sub-committee of the Professional Sports Caucus, chaired by Congressman Heath Shuler (D-NC).  The Golf Committee is focused on getting more golfers from the millennium generation (ages 20-35) to play more golf.  “We want to build a bridge from the social network to the golf course”, said Congressman Baca.  “We are excited to work with Congress on this initiative at GolfNet and Stracka.com”, said Jim Stracka “We need to get the millennium generation out of the coffee shop and on to the golf course”.

488 Views     4 Comments    16 Votes A critical step in acquiring a USGA handicap is to join a golf club in your area.  Here, we have over 2000 "virtual" golf clubs waiting for members to join.  Some clubs are private (type 2 golf clubs require handicap chairman approval and the member must live within a 50 mile radius) and some our public (type 3 golf clubs are open to all within a 50 mile radius).   We recently imported several clubs to accommondate golfers coming from the Isaac Scoring System.  Many of these clubs were created programatically and need a chairman to take the leadership role in heading the club.    We are currently recrutiing chairmen in over 600 clubs.  If you are in a club that needs a chairman, the club homepage will be flagged in need of a chairman.  To answer questions on the role of a chairman, below is a list of the prequisites and basic duties.
