Our handicaps are calculated in accordance with the rules and regulations of the USGA which requires you to join one of our virtual golf clubs. Each compliant golf club issues the handicaps while being licensed by the USGA. To confirm, your golf club is licensed you can lookup your golf club at www.usga.org. Our computing service is powered by the Stracka Network and is not associated with the GHIN computing service. Your handicap can be looked up by any tournament director or golfer under handicap lookup here.
The Calculation
A minimum of five scores is required. If you have 5 scores but your handicap is still not computed, either you haven't joined a compliant club, haven't upgraded your membership to silver or you are waiting on the next revision date. Check your golf club for the revision date schedule but typically it is the 1st and 15th of each month. After over 20 scores are posted into our system, only the last 20 scores are used. For each score, the USGA Course Rating and Slope Rating for the courses played are also required. Using those figures, calculate your handicap with the formula below.
(Score - Course Rating) x 113 / Slope Rating
How Many Rounds Used:
If you have only 5 or 6 rounds, your best round is used as the differential
7-8 rounds, best 2 rounds
9-10 rounds, best 3 rounds
11-12 rounds, best 4 rounds
13-14 rounds, best 5 rounds
15-16 rounds, best 6 rounds
17 rounds, best 7 rounds
18 rounds, best 8 rounds
19 rounds, best 9 rounds
20 rounds in the last year, use the best 10 rounds.
Final Handicap Index Calculation:
Then, we take your average differential of your best rounds and multiply it by .96 to get your Handicap Index.
